Acidity Testing Solution
Acidity Testing Solution is produced to enable a simple estimation of the acidity of insulating oils to be carried out on site. It is composed of a solvent miscible with the insulating oil, together with a fixed proportion of alkaline reagent and a colour indicator.
Acidity Testing Kit
A robust, impact resistant, case containing two bottles of Acidity Testing solution and a glass measuring cylinder, all protected by shaped foam packing.
Empty Drums
New drums - for the temporary storage of small quantities of oil removed from equipment to facilitate servicing. These are factory-fresh drums as used by EOS for the supply of electrical oils.
Reconditioned drums - for the return of used insulating oil for reclamation (or, where necessary, disposal). Not recommended for the storage of oil to be returned to service. These factory-reconditioned drums are guaranteed sound, though their absolute cleanliness cannot be assured.
Sampling Thief
As used by our own Quality Control department, this glass sampling thief (pipette) is suitable for taking samples from both 205litre drums and switchgear. It is long enough to reach the bottom of a drum while not being too unwieldy for use in switch tanks. It is supplied in a rigid plastic tube to protect it from dirt, moisture and shock.
Sampling Adaptors
These purpose-made adaptors turn any convenient valve into an easy-to-use sample point. They are designed to fit to a drain valve or filter valve and are fitted with a quarter-turn open/close valve for accurate flow control and with a hose for loss-free delivery into the sample bottle. Adapters for 4½" PCD flange (typically 2" valve) and 1" BSP (male on adapter) are normally available from stock. Other sizes or fittings are available to order.
Drum Key (Universal Plug Wrench)
The purpose-designed tool for removing tab-seals and 2" and ¾" bungs from drums. Ensures correct fitting making drum opening quicker, easier and safer, while reducing the risk of over tightening.
Spill Kits
To absorb or contain oil spills and drips. Available in various combinations of capacities and materials. All materials can also be supplied separately.
Wipes
Fibre-free, non-hygroscopic polypropylene cloths, ideal for wiping oil handling, sampling, and laboratory equipment.

Made by Carless Refining & Marketing in 1989, it contains much useful advice and information on insulating oil storage, handling, sampling and testing. It is available in PAL format from stock.
